MEMORIES

Soaked and drenched, she relived  his  embrace, his  caresses making her shudder .
The heavenly petrichor could not daze her senses.
His smile, his silken hair, his intense eyes, his breath  were etched in her memory with a splendor only she knew.
She was told time and again she needed to move on, that he was gone forever.
But how could she when he was right there..

DEPARTURE

Their anniversary together, an occasion to celebrate, her voice echoed.
Waiting in the lounge sipping on her favorite coffee , she found no solace.
He arrived, her heart neither skipped a beat nor did butterflies start flying in her stomach.
He was gone after an hour, life's compulsive excuses beckoning away.
Whose fault was it...she will never know, she sighed and gulped her insipid coffee.

CRUMPLED

Playing along with a sinking heart
Millions of miles keep you apart
The storm refuses to die
Too hard to bear the savage lie
Crumbling into dust
Surviving life is a must
Mundane is the shore where I thrive
Lacklustre grows the venomous life....
crushed to the core
A steel dagger my heart bore...

HUNGER

Parched was his throat,he sensed his stomach growling in a strange manner , the sound of which was drowned in the pandemonium of the crowd erupting with joy.
His feet started to tremble, the sun too strong on his slender body which barely witnessed ten summers.
He didn't want to, couldn't do this anymore, walking on this thin rope high up in the air.
He pleaded with his eyes, but the glare from his master busy counting coins from his wornout bag, silenced his resentment.
One more step and he felt light, his body floating through the air, one last thud, and he smiled, his sorrows over for a lifetime.

MIRAGE

She caressed the black velvet box sheltering her precious pearl set ,reliving those moments when he first clasped it ,his fingers ever so lightly dancing on her neck.

How she wished she knew he had so little time left, dreams for a lifetime snatched away in a moment, the wheel of time refusing to turn back.

She wished she could erase the times they fought, egos screeching making their unwanted presence known, days spent pining away for each other drowned in seas of sorrow.

She wished she woke up next to him ,nuzzling him , his voice whispering into her ear, sending tingles down her spine.

She wished he was right there to lock her in his strong arms , kiss away her tears and hear him say "I'm back, love".

A MARRIAGE FOR A LIFETIME

He often saw his life's journey reflecting in her eyes, afterall
they stayed blissfully married since sixty years.

Their lives were so entwined that we cannot tell apart one from the other, the beauty of love it surely is.

But one day he woke up to her lifeless body, serene, content as if she wrapped up all her beautiful memories to step into another world.

He maintained poise throughout her funeral and kissed his wife goodbye with a smile without any hint of tears, some feared if he was on the verge of losing his sanity.

The next day he woke up to a wintry morning, he was ready with two steaming mugs of coffee and settled down in one of the cane chairs, only to find the other one empty.
